Kenneth R. Kendoll, 67, of Seattle died 26 August 2024 in Lynnwood. He was born November 27, 1956 to Richard A. and Paula D. Kendoll (Streams) in Heidelberg, Germany.
Despite having suffered a traumatic brain injury at the age of twelve, Ken lived a full life with many accomplishments. Although he had lost the ability to read, he learned how to write programs for three iterations of Commodore computers through magazines and his own ingenuity. This ignited a lifetime passion for working with computers and programming. It wasn't just computers either. For Ken, anything tech just had to be sought out and explored!
The technology boom in the 90's delivered Ken the greatest joy of his life when his beloved sister, Lonnie, was able to locate him living in Seattle, reuniting the two who went on to create some beautiful memories together of kinship, love, laughter and travels.
Ken enjoyed traveling throughout his lifetime. Besides travels in the U.S., he also enjoyed adventures in Canada, Mexico, and the Philippines. His fascination with space took him to NASA in Texas. He also enjoyed, hiking, fishing, bicycling and swimming.
Ken always enjoyed helping others. He frequently volunteered his time at the Pike Market Ministry, the senior center and with charitable rummage sales.
"Do no harm" was a mantra that Ken lived throughout his lifetime. He lived his life putting compassion for others ahead of his own comfort.
Ken's spirituality guided his belief that life and death are inextricably bound together. He met his death with grace and dignity, continuing to show care for his new friends who provided care for him throughout the final days of his illness. His kind and caring manner will be deeply missed.
Kenneth is preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by his sister Lonnette "Lonnie" Kendoll of Dallas, TX, stepfather Jeff Baecker of The Dalles, OR and his longtime and dearest friends, Rick and Peggy Hudson of Seattle.
We wish to thank the Kaiser Permanente hospice team for ensuring all of Ken's needs were attended to with compassion and empathy. We are also eternally grateful for the care and love provided by Analyn and Sonny Catli at Woodhaven Adult Family Home.
A private memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Kenneth's name to the Pike Place Market Foundation, 93 Pike St., Suite 310, Seattle, WA 98101.
