How Did We Do?

Sabra Lee Blunt Baxter was born on June 10th, 1948 to Paul Lewis Blunt and Genevieve Albaugh Blunt in Ogden, Utah.

She was their third daughter after sisters Paula and Carolee. 2 years later their family was complete when her younger sister Debra was born. Sabra spent her childhood in various places in both Utah and Mississippi but graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City, UT.

After graduation Sabra moved to Tyler, TX where she lived with her sister Carolee and her family. She met her husband Brian Dean Baxter while traveling on a bus back to Texas from Missouri after visiting her best friend Raine. After a mere 8 month long-distance relationship, Brian proposed to Sabra by mailing her an engagement ring in a C ration can.

Brian and Sabra were married on August 21,1967 in Brigham City, UT and seven years later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, UT temple. They resided in Alexandria, LA their first year of marriage while Brian was stationed with the United States Air Force. When Brian was enlisted to serve in Vietnam, Sabra moved to Edmonds, WA where she attended beauty school, worked at a salon at five corners and resided with her in-laws.

When Brian returned from Vietnam, they relocated to Ballard, a neighborhood in Seattle, WA. They lived there until Sabra became pregnant with their oldest child and they purchased their first and only home in Shoreline, WA.

Their son Michael Walter was born March 13, 1972. Eleven years later they were able to adopt from Korea. Aeja Lee was born February 25, 1983 and arrived in Seattle in June of the same year. Three years later in January 1986 they completed their family with another adoption of their daughter Amanda Ahn, born November 22,1978.

Sabra had a deep love for children of all ages which is evident by all her "grandkids" she gained from her many years as an in-home daycare provider. She loved all of her daycare kids and followed their lives as they grew into adults. In her spare time she enjoyed her favorite hobby of quilting and spent many hours piecing together colors and patterns for friends and family. Sabra had many unique and varied interests including genealogy, archeology, Native American culture, ceramic painting, crocheting, hand embroidery, baking and she even obtained her HAM radio license.

After her retirement from in-home daycare, Sabra became a full-time Grandma. She was in the process of making quilts for each of her grandchildren. Sabra was a caregiver for her husband and spent many hours indulging in her new found love of Spotify and Netflix. She could often be found sitting in her chair "binging" a new show or cleaning the house with her headphones on singing as she went.

Sabra was loved by numerous family members and friends. She has left an everlasting love that will not be forgotten and will be infinitely missed.

Sabra departed this earth early morning Sunday September 15, 2024. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Brian, her children Michael (Amy), Amanda (Dave), Aeja (Joseph), her ten grandchildren, Victoria (Kayden), Taylor, Chase, Nekolai, Tyler, Carson, Chantelle, Kate, Lilly, Alex, her four great-grandchildren, Colton, Abel, Evelyn and Hazel, and numerous other family and friends. Sabra is preceded in death by her sisters Paula Gene Blunt Williams of Layton, UT, Carolee Ann Blunt Byrum of Layton, UT and Debra Lynn Blunt Peska of Shoreline, WA.

She will be interred in a private family service at Abbey View Memorial Park.

A funeral service will be held on October 11, 2024 at 1PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 102 N 132nd St, Seattle, WA 98133. All are invited to attend.
