Raymond Fiore Borelli, 89, formerly of Monticello and Urbana, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Bellevue, Washington, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, service, and love.

Born on Halloween in Chicago, Illinois, Raymond was the son of Raymond Louis Borelli and Mary Federighi Borelli. Fittingly born on a holiday known for costumes and fun, Raymond had a lifelong sparkle in his eye and a mischievous sense of humor. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann; his son, Mark Borelli (Lisa) of Chicago, Illinois; his daughter, Patricia Burbach of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his stepsons, Matthew Hill (Leilani) of Mercer Island, Washington, and Brian Hill (Melissa) of Shaker Heights, Ohio; and his sister, Diane Beahan of Elmhurst, Illinois. He was the proud (and often playfully teasing) grandfather of 12 grandchildren. Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann; his daughter, Pamela; and his sister, Jeanette Sprovieri.

He earned both his bachelor's and MBA degrees from the University of Illinois, where he joined ROTC and the Delta Chi Fraternity -- two lifelong commitments that would shape his love for leadership, loyalty, and brotherhood. He went on to serve in the United States Army, ultimately retiring with the rank of Colonel, and later served Delta Chi as National President for two terms.
Raymond was never one to sit still -- unless it was to tell a long, winding joke or spin a playful story. He believed deeply in the power of education and leadership and established several scholarships through the University of Illinois Foundation and the Delta Chi Educational Foundation in memory of his beloved wife and daughter.

Generous with both his time and his laughter, Raymond gave back to his community through volunteer service and was always the first to offer a helping hand -- or a clever pun. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, loyal friend, and a man whose humor and heart lit up every room he entered.

A celebration of Raymond's life will be held at a future date. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pamela Borelli and Family Achievement Award at the University of Illinois Foundation.
