Brian Dean Baxter was born on October 16, 1945 to Walter Robert Baxter and Mary Livermore Baxter in Ritzville, Washington.
He was the third and final child after sister Marilyn Irene and brother John Robert. Brian spent the early days of his childhood on his family wheat farm in Lind, WA, a small town on the east side of the state. At the age of 12 his family sold the farm and relocated to Edmonds where Brian graduated from Edmonds Senior High School.
After graduation Brian briefly enrolled at Edmonds Community College but then enlisted in the United States Air Force just 2 days after his 20th birthday. He was stationed in Alexandria, LA where a chance meeting on a bus brought him to his future wife. After dating for a short 8 months, Brian was married to Sabra Lee Blunt on August 21, 1967 in Brigham City, UT. Seven years later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, UT temple.
The newlyweds resided in Alexandria, LA until 1969 when Brian was activated to serve in the Vietnam War. At this time he moved his bride across the country back to Edmonds, WA to live with his parents while she attended beauty school. Brian returned home on leave in 1971 to be with his ailing mother and soon after, unenlisted from the Air Force. Brian and Sabra stayed some time in Ballard, a neighborhood in Seattle, before ultimately purchasing their forever home in Shoreline, WA.
Their first son Michael Walter was born March 13, 1972. Eleven years later they adopted their daughter Aeja Lee from Korea. Aeja was born February 25, 1983 and arrived in June of the same year. In January 1986 their family was completed following the adoption of their daughter Amanda Ahn also from Korea, born November 22, 1978.
Brian had a deep sense of work ethic and responsibility from the day he was born until the day he left this earth. Being born on a farm he worked early morning and late afternoons before and after school. He spent his teen years delivering his paper route and in the early years of his marriage worked at a service station and car garage.
Brian re-enlisted in the US Air Force in 1984 and in 1990 was activated to serve in Operation Desert Storm. In 1996 he resigned from his active duty call and served in the Reserves until he ultimately retired in 2000. During this time he also worked as a civilian for General Disposal, Pierce Transit, Shuttle Express and retired after 15 years at King County Metro.
After his retirement Brian still worked part time as a driver. His physical ailments prevented him from reaching his retirement dreams, but found other hobbies to fill his time. He became an avid reader, enjoyed listening to music, working on his coin collection and telling his beloved stories to family and friends.
Brian will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty and passion for life. He loved deeply and was bound by a strong sense of duty. He leaves behind a legacy of service to others as he sacrificed much of his time and talents to uplift his closest family, friends and strangers.
