George William Allen, 92, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.

Born in Port Angeles, Washington, to George E. and Maxine W. Allen, George graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1952. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy with close friends, completing basic training in San Diego before serving as a Cook (CS) aboard the USS De Haven (DD-727) during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in September 1956 as a petty officer second class, earning the Navy Good Conduct and National Defense Medals.

A dedicated butcher and meat cutter by trade for over 60 years, George worked for numerous supermarket chains before enjoying his later years at Silvana Meats, an old-time butcher shop where he and his wife formed a lasting friendship with the owners. Known for his unwavering work ethic, George finally fully retired in his 80s.

George found his greatest relaxation and peace outdoors. His most favorite memories were the 40+ years spent camping in Twisp, Washington--a cherished tradition he shared first with his parents, and later with his own children and grandchildren. In his free time, he also loved gardening and was highly respected by his neighbors and management for creating and maintaining a beautiful community rooftop garden at his senior living apartment complex.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Ann T. Allen; his sons, Earl D. Allen, Mark W. Allen (Jennifer), and Matthew J. Allen (Libby); four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael A. Allen, and his sibling, Dorothy.
