In Loving Memory of Barbara Marie Ogden Tight
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that the family of Barbara Marie Ogden Tight announce her peaceful passing on June 8, 2026, at Swedish Hospital in Issaquah, Washington, surrounded by her two beloved daughters, Tobi and Susie.

Barbara was born on May 8, 1942, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to Tom and Edith Ogden. She was the cherished sister of Bev McIntyre.
Barbara's childhood was filled with adventure and a deep love of the outdoors. Summers were often spent on the family's powerboat, where she enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and making lasting memories on the water. She also looked forward to attending the Calgary Stampede, especially the chuckwagon races, and was a devoted fan of the Calgary Stampeders football team.

From a young age, Barbara embraced an active lifestyle. She participated in softball, track and field, curling, and figure skating, developing the determination, teamwork, and positive spirit that would remain hallmarks of her character throughout her life. During high school, Barbara spent a summer working as a chambermaid in Glacier National Park. Surrounded by the beauty of the mountains, she gained a deeper appreciation for nature while strengthening the strong work ethic that served her well throughout her life.

On March 13, 1971, she married the love of her life, Michael Arthur Tight, beginning a partnership that would define the very best chapters of her story. Together they built a life rich with adventure, laughter, and cherished memories. They were true companions in every sense, exploring the world side by side and always on the lookout for the next great restaurant. Together they made their home in Federal Way, Washington, where they raised their daughters, Tobi (Joe) Roni and Susie (Justin) McKibben. Barbara poured her whole heart into her family. She was a constant and loving presence, never missing an activity or celebration, always arriving with her camera ready to capture every precious moment. As her family grew, she continued that devotion by making the trip to Sammamish to attend every one of her grandchildren's sporting events, school dances, birthday parties, and special celebrations, delighting in being part of their lives and cheering them on every step of the way. Barbara loved to dance--arms flung wide, smiling from ear to ear, especially when Sir Mix-a-Lot came on. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious, and she brought joy, laughter, and energy wherever she went.

Nicknamed "BTrack," one of Barbara's greatest passions was track and field. She dedicated years of her life to running the Federal Way Elementary Track Program, inspiring thousands of young athletes and leaving a lasting impact on her community. In 1990, she opened her heart even wider when she welcomed Les Matthews into her family and home, a testament to her boundless capacity for love and acceptance. On January 19, 2019, Barbara experienced one of the most profound joys of her life when she was reunited with her biological son, Paul Heglmeier. That reunion brought her immeasurable happiness and added a beautiful new chapter to her story.

In the last decade of her life, Barbara found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She and Mike spent countless hours working together in their garden, where her beloved roses flourished under her care. She also treasured the two months they spent each year in Newport Beach, California, near her daughter Susie and her family. Barbara and Mike loved their time on the beach, soaking up the sunshine, and making memories with their daughter, son-in-law, grandkids, and friends.

Barbara was a proud and loving grandmother to Daniella, Alyssa, Michael, Colton, Ashley, Kaylynn, Kambree, Giorgia, Kelti, Keslie, and Knate. Her grandchildren were among the greatest blessings of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Barbara will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her incredible strength, feisty spirit, fierce loyalty, unwavering faith, and unconditional love. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her family and friends will carry her love, laughter, and lessons with them always.
