Martin Ray Longhorn, 73, of Bellevue, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2026 with his family by his side.

Born on April 15, 1953, in Pendleton, Oregon, to Carl Longhorn and Velma Warman, Martin . He grew up in Eureka, California, spending many summers with family in Hermiston, Oregon, creating lifelong connections to both places.

Martin graduated from Eureka High School in 1971 and began his college education that fall at Oregon State University. After a year at OSU, he returned home to Northern California to be with his high school sweetheart, Penny Nicholson. Martin and Penny married in 1974 and remained devoted partners throughout their 51 years of marriage.

Martin continued his education at Humboldt State University before joining the United States Navy in 1976, where he proudly served his country for seven years. During his military service, he earned a Clinical Pathologist Certification and Bachelor of Science degree from George Washington University. Following his honorable discharge in 1983, Martin continued his education at the University of Washington, earning a second Bachelor of Science degree, in Environmental Science.

Following years of military relocations during his Navy service, Martin and Penny made their home in Bellevue, Washington, where they raised their family. He spent more than four decades working as a Medical Technologist in the greater Seattle area, with experience in hematology, microbiology, bacteriology, chemistry, and parasitology, his favorite area of the field. Martin was particularly proud of maintaining his professional certification for more than 40 years, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to his career and learning.

Martin's many personal passions included fishing, studying insects, exploring the great outdoors, and reading a wide range of books. He enjoyed sharing his love of sports and competition with his kids and had a deep appreciation for good music.
Those who knew Martin will remember him as kind-hearted, dependable, and endlessly caring. His warmth and humor were an important part of who he was. Martin had a quick wit and a natural ability to make people laugh, never missing an opportunity for a good joke. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of familiarity to those around him.
Above all, Martin's life was defined by his unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Martin is survived by his beloved wife, Penny; his 3 children Amber (Braden), Adam (Gosia) and Andrew (Bailee) and his eight grandchildren, Ellis, Collier, Julia, Manning, Jakub, Jonathan, Cal and Cooper.
